The Toronto Sceptres are losing one of their young prospects.
Emerson O’Leary, selected 556th overall in the fifth round of the 2026 PWHL Draft, has retired, The Hockey News's Ian Kennedy reported on Wednesday.
She will not be in camp with Toronto and has taken a job outside hockey, Kennedy added.
O'Leary, 22, had two goals and 24 points in 34 games last season with the Princeton Tigers.
It is unclear why the young forward decided to retire, but the Sceptres will now be down one player when training camp opens on Nov. 18.
Toronto's camp roster consists of 15 forwards, 10 defenders, and four goaltenders, and includes 15 players already signed for the upcoming season and 16 who were members of the Sceptres last season.
The Sceptres will play two pre-season scrimmages during training camp against PWHL Hamilton on Monday, Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m. ET at Morgan Firestone Arena and against the Ottawa Charge on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
