Renata Fast and Raygan Kirk aren't going anywhere.
The Toronto Sceptres re-signed the defender and goaltender to three-year contracts and protected them from expansion teams, the team announced on Wednesday.
Fast, an original foundational member of the Sceptres, registered one goal and nine assists in 26 games last season as the team missed the playoffs.
She was the league's defender of the year in 2024-25 after putting up six goals and 16 assists in 30 games, an effort that also made her the first defender ever nominated for the PWHL MVP award.
A native of Burlington, Ont., Fast has three Olympic medals, including gold in 2022, and seven world-championship medals (three gold, three silver, one bronze).
Kirk, from Ste. Anne, MB, posted a goals-against average of 1.87 and a save percentage of .934 in 2025-26, her second season in the league.
She also recorded three shutouts, two of which were consecutive on March 15 and 17.
Each PWHL team is eligible to protect up to three players during Phase 1 of expansion, as the league prepares to incorporate four new franchises next season.
