Toronto secured the first playoff spot of the PWHL's inaugural season on Saturday by defeating Montreal 3-2 in overtime in front of a record crowd at the Bell Centre.
Toronto's Sarah Nurse scored just 13 seconds into overtime, ripping a shot over the shoulder of Ann-Renée Desbiens and sending the 21,105 fans in attendance home disappointed.
Montreal needed to collect more than a single point in the game in order to book its playoff ticket. Toronto has now won all five encounters between the two teams this season.
Second-place Minnesota failed to become the second team to clinch after a 4-0 loss to Ottawa on Saturday.
