Alexis Joseph has been selected No. 1 overall by the Saint John Sea Dogs in the 2025 Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League draft on Friday.
Joseph, who turns 16 later this month, racked up 23 goals and 33 assists in 42 games played with Collège Esther-Blondin Phénix, about one hour north of Montreal, at the QM18AAA level last season.
The Sea Dogs won the draft lottery in April after finishing with the worst record in the East Division at 21-43-0-0.
In a video shared by the QMJHL, Joseph described himself as "a skilled forward with a good shot" and as someone who has a high IQ that can create space for himself and teammates.
The six-foot-four centre from Lachenaie, Que., was a consensus top pick heading into the draft and has had his playstyle compared to Los Angeles Kings forward Quinton Byfield.
