“Use your HEAD…..to stop the SPREAD!”
Formula One World Driving Championship:
Last Race: November 15th: Turkish Grand Prix: Crafty wet tire strategy put Montreal’s Lance Stroll on the pole, his first career P-1. Lance led more than half the race distance on a very wet and slippery circuit, but his pace went away after stopping for new intermediate wets with 21 laps to go. That parted the waters for Lewis Hamilton, who started 6th. He took over from leader Stroll on that lap 21 stop and that was it! Lewis’ 10th win of the season, 94th of his career.
Stroll finished 9th. Nick Latifi, a DNF after contact with Romain Grosjean.
Driver Points: Lewis Hamilton won Turkey while Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas spun in the wet numerous times and finished 14th. Hamilton wins the 2020 Championship to tie Michael Schumacher at 7. Mercedes won their 7th straight Constructors championship.
Next GP: Just 3 more! November 29th: Bahrain. December 6th: Shakir/Bahrain. December 13th: Abu Dhabi. Note: The 2020 Canadian Grand Prix Montreal was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
More Stroll Notes: He’s still only 22! Stroll’s first career pole, second front row, starting second for the 2017 Italian Grand Prix, again, wet qualifying. Stroll has scored 2 podiums: 3rd in the 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and at this year’s Italian Grand Prix. He has not scored any points since his podium at Monza this year. He also missed The Eifel GP after testing positive for Covid-19.
