Last Grand Prix: Sunday December 5th: Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah Circuit: Lewis Hamilton won a “dog’s breakfast” with Max Verstappen 2nd– meaning we head into the final race with Lewis and Max dead-even in points! After 2 red flags, the crucial moment: Hamilton tried a pass for the lead on Lap 36 but Verstappen ran wide in Turn 2 retaining P-1. He was told to give the lead back, but Max brake-checked Lewis, and Hamilton damaged his front wing running into the back of the Red Bull*. Hamilton tried again to get past on Lap 42 but Verstappen pushed him wide- a 5 second penalty! A lap later Hamilton took the lead for good, win # 8 for the season, 103 for his career. Lewis also grabbed the bonus point for fastest lap- tying the points dead even into the finale at Abu Dhabi.
* Verstappen was given a 10 second penalty for the brake check. It does not impact his 2nd place finish or the points.
