NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:

Last Race: Saturday Night September 18th: Bristol TN. 3rd and final race in playoff round of 16: Kyle Larson took the lead from Kevin Harvick with 4 laps to go to score his 6th NASCAR Cup win of the season to advance to the round of 12. Harvick was held up by Chase Elliott as payback for earlier contact allowing Larson to catch him! Harvick and Elliott exchanged heated words afterwards.

Points/Playoff: Eliminated from the playoff: Reddick, Almirola, McDowell and Kurt Busch.

Next Race: Sunday Sept. 26th Las Vegas. First race in the playoff round of 12.

NTT IndyCar Series: 

Last Race:  Sunday September 19th: Laguna Seca CA: second-last race of the season: Alex Palou did what he had to do to stay ahead of Pato O’Ward in points. Palou 2nd behind winner Colton Herta, O’Ward 5th. So Alex Palou leads O’ Ward into the season-closer at Long Beach September 26th: Romain Grosjean 3rd– first podiumas an IndyCar rookie! Canadians: Hinchcliffe 20th, Kellett: 23rd.

Points into Long Beach, season finale:  Palou leads O’Ward by 35.

Next Race: Sunday September 26th: Long Beach CA. Final race of the 2021 season. Champion to be declared.

Formula One World Driving Championship: 

Next Race: Sunday September 26th: The Russian Grand Prix, Sochi

Last Race: Sunday September 12th: The Italian Grand Prix at Monza: Last of 3 in a row: Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo set it up when he bolted past pole sitter Max Verstappen at the start, a lead he would never relinquish! The win sealed when rivals Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen crashed again- this time both out of the race on lap 27. Lewis coming out of the pits, battled Max who launch over the curbs and landed on top of Hamilton’s car in the gravel. Verstappen blamed- a 3 position grid penalty in Russia. They tangled previous at the British GP with Max taken out. Ricciardo’s 8th career F-1 win, first for McLaren and a 1-2 finish with Lando Norris. First GP win for McLaren in 9 seasons. Canadians: Lance Stroll classified 7th. Nick Latifi scored 11th.

Points: into Russia on the 26th:  Verstappen leads Hamilton by 5 in Drivers. A 3rd at Monza for Valtteri Bottas after starting 19th has Mercedes leading Red Bull by 18 in Constructors.

Canadian Rally Championship presented by Subaru: 

Next Rally: October 23rd: Rallye Charlesvoix, La Malbaie Quebec

Last Rally: September 12th: Rally Defi Montpellier Quebec:  the win to Quebec’s Jérôme Mailloux and co-driver Philippe Poirier in their Subaru WRX STi, their very first CRC win! They finished a wide 9 minutes ahead of second place brothers André and René Leblanc, in their Four Star Motorsports Subaru WRX STi.

World Rally Championship:

Next Rally: October 3rd, Rally Finland.

Last Rally: September 12th: The Acropolis Rally, Greece: Kalle Rovanpera for Toyota wins by 42 seconds ahead of Hyundai’s Ott Tanak on the gravel. Ogier moved closer to an 8th WRC title as championship contenders Elfyn Evans and Thierry Neuville could only finish 6th and 8th.  Ogier extends his championship lead to 44 points over Evans with 3 WRC rallies remaining.
