2022 is our 30th Anniversary Season!
Formula One World Driving Championship:
Last Race: Sunday April 10th: The Australian Grand Prix, Melbourne: Charles Leclerc dominated easily from the pole, 2nd win of the young season to go with the Bahrain opener, and Ferrari’s first grand-slam since 2010: Pole, fastest lap and lead every lap. Closest rival, Max Verstappen had to park his Red Bull again on lap 38-another engine problem. It was Max’s second retirement of the season after his engine quit with bad fuel pressure in Bahrain. Sergio Perez finished 2nd, nothing wrong with his Red Bull, Mercedes’ George Russell 3rd. Lewis Hamilton 4th, better, but not nearly good enough.
Canadians: Another terrible weekend. Lance Stroll put back 3 grid spots after crashing with fellow Canuck Nick Latifi in qualifying. Stroll finished 12th, Lattifi 16th.
F-1 Points into Imola, Drivers: Leclerc’s championship lead is now 34 points over George Russell, and 46 points better than reigning champion Verstappen. It’s the widest points margin since 2019. Constructors: Ferrari leads Mercedes by 39.
Next Race: Sunday April 24th: Imola Italy

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:
Last Race: Saturday night April 9th: Martinsville VA. Smallest track on the Cup schedule: the first night race there and a rather easy one for Hendrick Motorsports, as William Byron survived a final re-start and a mistake on the white-flag lap to win his 2nd of the season to go with Atlanta, the first repeat Cup winner this season. Joey Logano arrived 2nd at Martinsville, Austin Dillon 3rd.
Cup points into Bristol: Chase Elliott leads Ryan Blaney by 3.
Next Race: Sunday Night April 17th: The dirt race at Bristol TN.

NTT IndyCar Series:
Last Race: Sunday April 10th: Long Beach CA: Josef Newgarden won for the first time holding off Romain Grosjean for Newgarden’s second win in a row. Newgarden led a race-high 32 laps. Team Penske is 3 for 3 to open the IndyCar season. Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin won the opener at St. Petersburg, then Newgarden won at Texas and now Long Beach to bump McLaughlin from the championship lead. Newgarden was challenged over the final 15 laps by Grosjean, the former Formula One driver seeking his first career IndyCar victory. Jimmie Johnson crashed with 10 laps remaining to bring out the caution and give Grosjean and reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou a shot on a final restart, but Newgarden was too strong as the race ended under caution for the final lap. The Canadians: Both DNF’d a Long Beach, Latifi and DeFrancesco with wall and tire barrier contact!
IndyCar Points into Barber Alabama: TBD
Toronto Indy: July 17th
