Last Race: Sunday July 17th: Toronto Indy, Exhibition Place Toronto. Back after 2 years of Covid closure: Make it bigger numbers for New Zealand’s Scott Dixon! Fast all weekend and starting on the front row, the Chip Ganassi Racing veteran started 2nd, took the lead for good on lap 62 of 85 and recorded excellent fuel mileage to score his 4th win in Toronto and first win of the season, but that’s his 52nd career IndyCar win to tie him with Mario Andretti for second all time, behind A.J Foyt’s 67. Pole sitter Colton Herta finished 2nd, Felix Rosenqvist 3rd, Graham Rahal 4th and last week’s guest Marcus Ericsson 5th.
The Canadians: Devlin DeFrancesco: career best 12th starting spot, he wound up 18th. Dalton Kellett started 23rd with no qualifying time due to fuel pressure issues, had more engine problems and parked it for good on lap 32 … a DNF.
Points out of Toronto into Iowa Double-Header: Marcus Ericsson leads Will Power by 35.

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:
Last Race: Sunday July 17th: New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Loudon NH: Christopher Bell took his first NASCAR Cup Series win of the season with a late surge to the front, shaking up the playoff picture. Bell’s No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota overhauled Chase Elliott and set the pace for the final 42 of the 301 laps. Bell’s second win of his Cup Series career was his fifth at New Hampshire. Chase Elliott was 2nd, Bubba Wallace 3rd

Formula One World Driving Championship: Idle!
Next Race: Sunday July 24th: The French Grand Prix, Le Castellet/Marseille.
Last Race: Sunday July 10th: The Austrian Grand Prix, Spielberg: Another good one with tons of passing! The new aero is working! Monaco’s Charles Leclerc got around Max Verstappen 3 times, then nursed a sticky throttle home to score his 3rd GP win of the season, 5th of his career! LeClerc very nervous until he saw checkers as Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz grenaded an engine with 10 laps to go- shaky Ferrari reliability robbing the team of what could have been a 1-2 finish! Verstappen finished 2nd in Austria for Red Bull, Lewis Hamilton 3rd, his 3rd podium in a row, scoring points despite Mercedes’ struggle.
The Canadians in Austria: Lance Stroll 13th no points despite a decent pace. Nick Latifi: a DNF with a damaged floor.
F-1 Points: Into France: Max Verstappen’s lead over LeClerc is 38 at the half-way mark of the season. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez drops to 3rd in the order, a DNF in Austria. Red Bull’s Constructors lead on Ferrari is 56.

Last Race: July 16th: Limerock Park Connecticut: Canada’s Pfaff Porsche 911 squad wins a series-high 4th win of the season with Campbell and Jaminet at the tiller! GTD to Sellers & Snow in the Miller BMW.
