Formula One World Driving Championship:
Last GP: Sunday October 23rd: The U.S Grand Prix, COTA, Austin Texas: Max Verstappen over-hauled pole sitter Carlos Sainz off the start, lost the lead with a botched pit stop (left front gun) with 15 laps to go to Lewis Hamilton, but he grabbed the lead back with 6 to go for his 13th win of the year to tie Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel for wins in a season. 104th career win for Max. Hamilton 2nd- equaling his best finish of the season. Charles LeClerc 3rd. Sergio Perez 4th with Verstappen’s win clinches the 2022 Constructor’s title for Red Bull!
The Canadians: Lance Stroll qualified 7th and was in the top 3 for a time. But on lap 22 of 56 he moved to the left and collected Fernando Alonso. Stroll a DNF penalized 3 grid places in Mexico. Nick Latifi spun on lap one, wound up 17th.
Points into Mexico: Under Champion Verstappen: Charles LeClerc leads Sergio Perez by just 2 points! 3 GP’s remain on the F-1 schedule: Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. Red Bull clinches the 2022 Constructor’s championship breaking Mercedes streak of the last 8 in a row dating back to 2014!
There are 3 GP’s remaining on the season: Mexico Oct 30th, Brazil November 13th and Abu Dhabi November 20th.

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:
Last Race: Race # 2 Round of 8 Playoff: Miami-Homestead Florida: Kyle Larson is not eligible in the playoff anymore, but the defending Cup champion led all but 68 of the 267 laps for his 3rd win of the season, 19th of his Cup career. His win denied the remaining playoff-contenders an automatic berth in the final-4 to join Joey Logano. Ross Chastain the highest finishing with a 2nd. Larson is the 5th non-playoff winner over 8 races.
Bottom 4 after Miami into Martinsville: Hamlin, Blaney, Bell and Briscoe.
Next Race: 3rd and final race in Playoff Round of 8: Sunday October 30th: Martinsville VA.

NTT IndyCar Series: Season Closed
Penske’s Will Power wins the 2022 IndyCar championship to go with his 2014 title.
The Canadians: Devlin DeFrancesco finishes 23rd in final points. Dalton Kellett 25th.
2023 Season Opener: March 5th, St. Petersburg Florida. Toronto: July 16th.
IMSA Sports Cars: Season Closed
Canada’s Pfaff Motorsports with Campbell and Jaminet wheeling their plaid # 9 Porsche, locked up the 2022 GTD-Pro championship to go with their GTD crown last year. More Canadian titles as former RLR guest Roman DeAngelis in the “Heart of Racing” Aston Martin secured this year’s GTD crown. And Meyer-Shank Racing, anchored by 4X Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves won DPi to claim that championship. Also at Atlanta, celebration for JDX Racing headed by former champ Jeremy Dale, frequent RLR guest, the “Red Deer Rocket”, Parker Thompson finished 3rd, but good enough to take the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup North America championship!
2023 IMSA Opener: January 22nd: Rolex 24 at Daytona. CTMP Toronto: July 7-9.

Canadian Rally Championship presented by Subaru:
Last Rally: October 23rd: Rallye Charlesvoix, La Malbaie Quebec: Overcoming gearbox woes, Jerome Mailloux and Philippe Poirier in their Subaru WRX STi win by 31 seconds over Jason Bailey and Shayne Peterson in their Ford Fiesta, to widen their points lead. 2-Wheel drive to Duddy and Toupin in their Nissan Sentra.
