NTT IndyCar Series:
Last Race: Saturday August 20th: On the short oval Gateway St. Louis, known as World Wide Technology Raceway: Josef Newgarden won the rain-interrupted dash mastering the “race within the race” with the weather delay and pulling even closer to the series championship lead. Joe collected his series-leading 5th win of the season for Penske, with Dale Coyne rookie Dave Malukas 2nd, an amazing run after the race re-started for a career-best finish, Scott McLaughlin 3rd. Newgarden’s 3rd straight win at St. Louis.
The Canadians: Rookie Devlin DeFrancesco wound up 12th. Dalton Kellett 18th.
IndyCar Points: Will Power lead his Penske team mate Newgarden by only 3 into Portland and Laguna Seca September 11th to finish off the 2022 IndyCar season.
Next Race: Sunday September 4th: Portland International Raceway.

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:
Last Race: Sunday August 21st: Watkins Glen NY ( RC ): delayed start due to a thunderstorm, 2nd straight year the win goes to Kyle Larson, his first Cup win since Auto Club back in February. The Sprint Car ace wedged Chase Elliott wide in turn-one with 4 laps to go, then held off an attack from road racer AJ Allmendinger to claim it. Allmendinger finished 2nd, Joey Logano 3rd. Noted in the field, 2007 Formula One champion Kimi Raikonen made contact with a tire barrier on lap 45 and did not finish!
Cup Points into Daytona: TBD
Next Race: Saturday August 27th: Daytona Florida. Last race before the opening round of 16 playoff begins at Darlington Sunday September 4th.

Formula One World Driving Championship: Idle!
Next Race: Sunday August 28th: The Belgian Grand Prix Spa Franchorchamps.
Last Race: Sunday July 31st: The Hungarian Grand Prix, Budapest: Max Verstappen scores the improbable win, his second in a row as Ferrari threw away another W/LeClerc with more dumb strategy! Max’s 8th win of the season, 28th career. Lewis Hamilton 2nd, Merc-mate and pole sitter George Russell 3rd, a double podium for Mercedes in rapidly improving race cars!
Canadians in Hungary: Lance Stroll 11th-no points. Nick Latifi 18th.
F-1 Points into the summer break: Max Verstappen’s lead over Charles LeClerc is now 80. Red Bull’s Constructors lead on Ferrari is 97 with Merc only 30 back of Ferrari! F-1 now has close to a month off. They don’t re-fire again until August 28th in Belgium! There are 10 GP’s left in the season!

Last Rally: August 18th: Rally Belgium, Ypres: Hyundai’s Ott Tanak fought off Toyota’s Elfyn Evans to claim his 3rd WRC win of the season by 5 seconds. Tanak’s win reduces Kalle Rovanpera’s points lead to 74.
