NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:
Last Race: Sunday March 12th: Phoenix, Arizona:
NASCAR the only one of the Big-3 in action with Cup racing on the one-mile oval in Phoenix, AZ. Kevin Harvick appeared well on his way to his first win of the season and 10th of his career at Phoenix, but a late caution with 10 laps to go snuffed that possibility with Harvick’s car being much better on long runs. Meanwhile, William Byron gambled on the last pit stop taking just two tires, resulting in him getting out front for the restart and securing his second win in a row after triumphing in Vegas. Byron becomes the first repeat winner this young season, with Ryan Blaney finishing 2nd and Tyler Reddick in 3rd.
Next Race: Sunday March 19th: Atlanta Motor Speedway. Last Year’s winner: William Byron.

Formula One World Driving Championship:
Last Race: Sunday, March 5th: 2023 Season Opener: Grand Prix of Bahrain:
Max Verstappen kicked off his title defense with a very comfortable win, but clearly the star of this show was “the old man”, 41 year old Spaniard Fernando Alonso. The 2-time champ and oldest pilot in the field drove the vastly improved Aston Martin up to 3rd to earn a podium, passing Ferraris and Mercedes to get there! Inspiring stuff! Sergio Perez was 2nd to complete Red Bull’s 1-2, the way they started! Carlos Sainz 4th. The other Ferrari driven by Charles Leclerc stopped with an engine issue. Lewis Hamilton 5th for Mercedes, clearly showing their sidepod-less design needs work.
Canadians: A solid 6th for lone Canadian Lance Stroll, driving with two broken wrists and a toe on his right foot after a cycling spill.
Next Race: Sunday March 19th at the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia. Last year’s winner: Max Verstappen.

NTT IndyCar Series:
Last Race: March 5th 2023 Season Opener: St. Petersburg Florida:
Very messy! Crashes on the first lap and another on lap 42 wiped out a big chunk of the field. When the carnage stopped, 27 cars started, only 14 finished. Came down to only 4 laps to go when Pato O’Ward’s engine hesitated allowing Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson to capture his 4th career win for Chip Ganassi. O’Ward was 2nd, Ericsson’s teammate Scott Dixon finished up in 3rd.
Canadians: Devlin DeFrancesco ended his race early being taken out in that first lap crash, DNF.
Next Race: April 2nd at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. Last Year’s winner: Josef Newgarden.

Canadians: John Farano finished in the Tower Oreca in 5th. Devlin DeFrancesco 6th in the Rick Ware Oreca. Antoino Serravalle 6th in the Fast MD DuKane. Caledon’s Orey Fidani 4th, Red Deer’s Parker Thompson 5th, Toronto’s Kyle Marcelli 6th, Mikhail Goikberg 7th, Ottawa’s Zach Robichon 8th. Canadian Rally Championship presented by Subaru:
Last Rally: Feb. 3rd-4th, Rallye Perce Neige in Maniwaki, Quebec:
Frigid minus 34 temperatures on snow covered stages with big plow banks on the shoulders!
Winners: First national win for Quebec’s Alex Moreau and Ian Guite in their Subaru WRX STi, by 2 minutes over Jean-Sebastien Besner and Yvan Joyal in their Mitsubishi Lancer. Matt Leblanc and Eric Dube in their Honda Civic holding off Chris Greenhouse and Ryan Scott in their Dodge Neon, taking two-wheel drive by just one-tenth of a second!
Next Rally: June 4th, Rocky Mountain Rally in Radium, British Columbia.
_____________________________________________________________________________
World Rally Championship:
Last Rally: February 9th, The Rally Sweden:
Winners: World Rally’s 2nd run of the season. Ott Tanak snatched the win away from Hyundai’s Craig Breen to finally put a stop M-Sport’s near 13-month WRC win drought. Tanak drove pretty much flawlessly to score the win by a margin of 18.7 seconds
Next Rally: March 19th, Rally Mexico.
