TFC’s Altidore responds with kindness to racial insult from fan

Toronto FC manager Greg Vanney joined Prime Time Sports to discuss TFC's recent CONCACAF win and much more.

Toronto FC‘s Jozy Altidore reacted to a racial insult from a fan via social media with pure class early morning on Wednesday.

The fan’s message appears to have been sent as a direct message on Instagram and followed Toronto FC advancing past Liga MX champion Tigres on aggregate despite a 3-2 loss in Mexico.

The message from herman_bunbury made references to Altidore’s skin colour and insulted family members.

Altidore responded in Spanish, which translates to, “Thanks for your support and those great words, friend,” he tweeted. “I just want the best for you and your family. Greetings.”

Despite a 4-4 aggregate score, Toronto FC advanced courtesy of scoring one more away goal than Tigres and will likely face another Mexican side, Club America, in the semifinals.
