The Montreal Impact defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-2 at BC Place on Sunday after both teams were reduced to 10 men in a wild contest.

The victory keeps the Impact’s chances of reaching the Canadian Championship final intact. They now have to defeat the Whitecaps by at least a two-goal margin to advance to the final.

The Canadian MLS representative – either Montreal or Toronto FC – will face the winner of the Canadian Premier League’s Island Games in the Canadian Championship final.

Vancouver and Montreal square off again on Wednesday night before heading to the U.S. to finish the remainder of their regular-season schedules.
