Alphonso Davies' contract talks at Bayern Munich have slowed due to turmoil in the German club's ranks, as per a report by Transfermarkt.
"It's a chaotic time at Bayern Munich,” Davies' agent Nedal Huoseh said in an interview with Bild according to the report. “I'm not sure what's going on and who we'll be talking to. There seems to be too much instability and uncertainty about the direction of the club."
Despite winning an 11th straight Bundesliga title in dramatic fashion, Bayern Munich have largely struggled this year. The club fired both CEO Oliver Kahn and director of sport Hasan Salihamidzic on the final day of the 2022-23 season, when they clinched the league trophy on goal difference against Borussia Dortmund.
Davies' camp had primarily been in contact with Salihamidzic, with the sporting director having convinced the Canadian left-back of making the move to Munich and outlining plans for his future at the club.
Without his presence, contract talks seem to have come to a standstill and Huoseh is said to have suggested to Bild that both parties may need to wait and see until 2024 to commence discussions.
Davies has a deal in place at Bayern Munich until 2025, but it remains to be seen if he will continue at the club thereafter.
Huoseh underlined his frustration with the current situation to Transfermarkt as well. “We just don’t know who to talk to at the moment.”
Davies' camp has rarely been in contact with the likes of Uli Hoeneß or Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who now would take a bigger role at the club once again.
“At this point, we are just waiting for a signal from the club,” Huoseh said. While talks with the 33-time Bundesliga champions were going well, management unrest could lead the Davies camp to consider other options.
The 22-year-old has reportedly been linked with big-name clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester City.
