Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a surprising start to the Premier League campaign, as the Spurs have claimed a share of the top of the EPL table during an impressive 11-match unbeaten streak. However, they continue to lag behind the favourites as a +500 wager on the Premier League championship odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

A stingy defence has been key to Tottenham's hot start. The club has surrendered just a single goal over their past five league outings, and a league-low 10 total goals through their first 12 contests of the season. Among the opponents the Spurs have defeated in the early going are Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Spurs also earned a draw with Chelsea two weeks ago, and can claim sole possession of first place with a win in Wednesday's matchup with Liverpool at Anfield. Winless in their past seven meetings with the Reds, Tottenham may be visiting the defending champions at the right time.

While unbeaten in their past eight league contests, Liverpool have been far from dominant in recent weeks. After escaping with a 1-1 draw against 18th-place Fulham FC this past weekend, the Reds have now picked up the win in just four of their past nine league matches. However, that has been good enough to keep them level with the Spurs atop the table with 25 points, and to maintain their spot as +175 favourites to repeat as EPL champions.

Unlike the Spurs, who follow up Wednesday's matchup with Liverpool at Anfield with a visit from third-place Leicester City this weekend, the Reds enjoy a favourable schedule that positions them well to take over first place before New Year's Day. Both clubs also benefited from Chelsea's stunning 2-1 loss to Wolves on Tuesday afternoon that leaves the Blues stalled in fourth place on the table, and deadlocked with Spurs at +500 at sports betting sites.

Manchester City squandered an opportunity to close the gap on the top of the table in Tuesday afternoon's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion. The Citizens remain six points adrift of top spot in sixth place, deadlocked at 20 points with Wolves, Manchester United, Everton FC and West Ham United, but closely trail the Reds as +200 second favourites.

Further down the Premier League championship odds, Manchester United has fallen off the pace at +1800 despite going undefeated in their past five contests. Losses in two of four outings have contributed to the Foxes' slide to a lengthy +3300, while Arsenal FC join Wolves at +20000 after compiling an 0-1-4 win-draw-loss record over their past five league matches.
