BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona says it has sold Brazilian left back Adriano Correia to Turkish club Besiktas.
The Spanish champion says that the deal is worth (euro)600,000 ($666,000) and includes a clause that increases the transfer fee to (euro)1.7 million ($1.8 million) if Adriano helps Besiktas qualify for the Champions League.
The 31-year-old Adriano won 16 trophies in six seasons for Barcelona, including two Champions League titles.
The attack-minded fullback made 113 league appearances, scoring nine goals. Injuries, however, limited his appearances in recent seasons.
Barcelona has signed France defenders Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne, increasing the competition for places.
