Bayern Munich to appeal 3-match ban for Boateng

FRANKFURT — Bayern Munich says it plans to appeal against the three-match ban imposed on defender Jerome Boateng.

Boateng was sent off early in Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Schalke on Tuesday for bringing down Sydney Sam.

The German Football Federation imposed a three-match ban but there will now be a hearing following Bayern’s appeal.

If the ban is upheld, Boateng would miss matches against Stuttgart, Paderborn and Hamburger SV.
