LISBON, Portugal — Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria is taking charge at Benfica, where Jorge Jesus quit two weeks ago and moved to crosstown rival Sporting Lisbon.
The Lisbon club says Vitoria signed a three-year contract. The 45-year-old Vitoria was previously a youth coach at the Stadium of Light and most recently was coach of Guimaraes, which finished fifth last season in the Portuguese league.
