BREMEN, Germany — Werder Bremen has signed Italian central defender Luca Caldirola from Inter Milan.
The Bundesliga side says in a statement that the 22-year-old Caldirola has signed a four-year deal.
The Italy youth international says, "Bremen is a huge chance for me. When my agent told me of their interest I said straightaway that I wanted to switch to Werder. The club has a lot of tradition."
Caldirola spent the second half of last season on loan at Serie B club Brescia.
At Bremen, he will be expected to fill in for Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who left for Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund.
