Canadian Hume named MVP of India soccer league

TORONTO — Canadian international striker Iain Hume has been named player of the year in the Indian Super League.

The 31-year-old Hume had five goals, tied for second in the league, and three assists, tied for third, in 16 games this season for the 5-5-4 Kerala Blasters FC.

Hume’s Blasters lost 1-0 to Atletico de Kolkata 1-0 in the Indian Super League final Saturday night.

The Scottish-born Hume has also played in England for Tranmere Rovers, Leicester City, Barnsley and Preston North End with loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Fleetwood Town.
