GLASGOW, Scotland — Celtic continued its defence of the Scottish Cup on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Stirling.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Scott McDonald and Shunsuke Nakamura scored to send the record 34-time cup winner into the fifth round, where it will be joined by Scottish Premier League rival Hibernian, which beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-0.
Motherwell, playing its first match since captain Phil O’Donnell died after collapsing on the field, earned a fourth-round replay by rallying from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Hearts.
SPL rivals Falkirk and Aberdeen also drew 2-2, as did Gretna and Morton.
Hamilton Academicals drew 0-0 with Brechin, while Queen of the South beat non-league Linlithgow 4-0, and St. Mirren defeated Dumbarton 3-0.
With so many draws and several games called off because of frozen fields, just four teams are through to the next round.
Rangers, which has won the cup 31 times, hosts East Stirling on Sunday.
