MADRID, Spain — Real Madrid defender Pepe has returned to the team in time for its Champions League game against Manchester United after a five-week injury absence.
Pepe made Madrid’s squad for its Spanish league game against Sevilla on Saturday after recovering from surgery on his right ankle on Jan. 2.
Madrid hosts United on Wednesday in the first leg of their round-of-16 series.
Madrid centre back Sergio Ramos also recently returned from a five-game suspension.
