LONDON — League and cup winner Chelsea will play Manchester United in the Community Shield — the English season’s traditional curtainraiser — at Wembley on Aug. 8.
It will be the second consecutive season the two teams have met in the Community Shield, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea running out a 4-1 winner on penalties in the 2009 edition after the game finished 2-2 in normal time.
Chelsea won the Premier League-FA Cup double last season — the first time the club has achieved such a feat — while United came second in the league.
