CPL: Jordan Brown keeps Cavalry undefeated in win over FC Edmonton

Canadian-Premier-League

CALGARY – Jordan Brown’s goal before halftime stood as the winner and the Calgary Cavalry held on for a 1-0 win over provincial rival FC Edmonton on Saturday in Canadian Premier League action.

Brown stuck a foot out to redirect a low, hard shot to find the far corner of the net as FC Edmonton goalkeeper Connor James dived in the wrong direction, anticipating the original shot.

The Cavalry have opened the CPL’s inaugural spring season with four straight wins to sit atop the league’s table.

Earlier, an own goal by Pacific FC centreback Ryan McCurdy in the 58th minute led to a 2-2 draw with York 9 FC.

Rodrigo Gattas scored in the 53 minute as York 9 FC rallied to the tie.

Ben Fisk and Marcus Haber had given Pacific FC a 2-0 lead by half.
