CPL Roundup: Calvary FC jump into first place with rout of Valour FC

WINNIPEG — Jordan Brown, Julian Buscher and Oliver Minatel each scored twice as Cavalry FC routed Valour FC 8-0 on Monday in Canadian Premier League action.

Nico Pasquotti and Nikolas Ledgerwood also scored for the Calgary-based Cavalry (5-1-4), which jumped into first place in the league with 19 points, three more than Hamilton’s Forge FC.

Marco Carducci stopped two shots to put up the clean sheet.

Mathias Janssens made five saves for Valour FC, which fell to 3-5-3 with the loss.

Earlier Monday, the Halifax Wanderers and FC Edmonton played to a 0-0 draw.

Halifax remained in last place through the fall season at 2-6-2. Edmonton is third with a 3-2-5 record.
