WINNIPEG — Anthony Novak scored the first of three first-half goals for his club, and Forge FC went on to defeat Valour FC 3-1 on Thursday in Canadian Premiere League action.
Novak opened the scoring in the 15th minute for the visitors and Christopher Nanco doubled the Forge FC (7-1-2) only moments later.
Tristan Borges made it 3-0 in the 27th minute with a penalty kick for the Hamilton-based club, which is unbeaten in nine matches.
Tyler Attardo replied in the 70th minute for Winnipeg’s Valour FC (3-6-3), who played much of the game with 10 men after Adam Mitter was red carded in the 26th minute.
Mitter intentionally handled the ball before it crossed the line, leading to an ejection and a penalty-kick goal for Borges.
