MADRID — Deportivo La Coruna held on to a 1-1 home draw against second-division club Llagostera to advance to the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.
Deportivo won 3-2 on aggregate.
Midfielder Juan Dominguez put the hosts on the board in the second half, but Llagostera equalized with a penalty kick converted by Jordi Lopez 10 minutes later. Another Llagostera goal would’ve been enough to send the game into extra time.
Also, Real Betis advanced 5-3 on aggregate thanks to two late goals in a 3-3 draw at Sporting Gijon, while Sevilla cruised into the next round 5-0 on aggregate after a 2-0 home win over Logrones.
Espanyol came from behind to beat Levante 2-1, advancing 3-2 on aggregate.
