UTRECHT, Netherlands — Jonathan de Guzman scored Sunday to lead Feyenoord over Vitesse Arnhem 1-0 and put the team back in second place in the Dutch league.
De Guzman curled a 45th-minute shot past Vitesse goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen to give Feyenoord 47 points, nine less than PSV Eindhoven and the same amount as Ajax and NAC Breda.
Vitesse’s Paul Verhaegh was sent off in the 90th for bringing down Andwele Slory.
NAC Breda won its seventh straight game as Rogier Molhoek scored in the 75th to give the team a 1-0 win over De Graafschap.
Ajax beat Sparta Rotterdam 6-2 Friday and defending champion PSV defeated Willem II 1-0 Saturday.
Jason Oost and Sandro Calabro scored two goals each to help VVV Venlo earn its first win of the year by beating FC Utrecht 4-1.
Calabro put VVV ahead in the 19th from the penalty spot after Tim Cornelisse’s foul on Edwin Linssen in the area. Cornelisse, who was making his 300th league appearance, was ejected.
Oost added goals in the 39th and 49th before Calabro wrapped up the win with another in the 80th.
Teenager Randy Wolters scored a consolation on his Utrecht debut in the 89th.
Marcus Berg scored twice, including an 86th-minute penalty, to give FC Groningen a 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar.
Groningen had taken the lead in the 30th off Berg’s first goal but Netherlands international Kew Jaliens converted Simon Poulsen’s free kick to level for AZ in the 84th.
