Toronto FC unveil unprotected list

Sportsnet.ca — A handful of Canadians dotted the unprotected list as MLS teams revealed their lists ahead of the expansion draft.

The most notable Canadian list on the list is MLS champion Pat Onstad, who preserved Houston’s 2-1 Cup final victory with a late game save. The Vancouver native is rumoured to be atop the wanted list for new San Jose Earthquakes coach, and fellow Canadian, Frank Yallop.

Onstad played for the Earthquakes from 2003-05, before the team suspended operations and its players and staff moved to Houston.

Toronto FC’s unprotected players are defender Andrew Boyens, defender Nana Attakora-Gyan, defender Adam Braz, defender-midfielder Miguel Canizalez, goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic, defender Gabe Gala, midfielder David Guzman, midfielder Tyler Hemming, forward Andrea Lombardo, midfielder Stephen Lumley, midfielder Joey Melo, midfielder Cristian Nunez, defender-midfielder Chris Pozniak, defender Marco Reda and goalkeeper Kenny Stamatopoulos.

Each MLS team can only lose one player to expansion.
