Man United-West Ham highights FA Cup

For all of you who enjoy a cup upset, these are the matches that could produce a surprise winner.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Newcastle United

A Mike Williamson own goal handed Brighton the victory in the fourth round of last season’s competition, and Newcastle are still without an away victory this season.

Aston Villa v Ipswich Town

Despite Villa being undefeated in their last five fixtures against the Tractor Boys, the last meeting happened 11 years ago. Paul Lambert’s side is in the midst of a horrendous run of form, and surprisingly Ipswich play better away from home this season.

Derby County v Tranmere

Their last five meetings have produced a minimum of four goals, with both clubs trading heavy defeats in the last two encounters. Derby won the most recent outing 6-2 at Pride Park back in 1996. The Merseyside club is top of League One, while Derby is mid-table and pushing for the top six in the Championship. An upset is possible.

Crawley Town v Reading

This will be their first ever meeting, but a fixture that could potentially be on the Championship schedule next season, with Reading struggling in the relegation zone in the Premiership and Crawley fighting for promotion in League One. Brian McDermott’s side is without an away victory, and the small town feel of Broadfield Stadium has proven to provide a great atmosphere for the Reds to mount a challenge.

Crystal Palace v Stoke City

The Eagles have dipped slightly since being briefly top of the Championship table, but still remain worthy contenders for automatic promotion, and fully capable of pulling off a major upset. Stoke has won both of their last two visits to Selhurst Park, but have only won once all season away from the boisterous Britannia. Not since the season opener has Palace lost a match at home.
