Great World Cup final or greatest World Cup final?

That’s what the sports world was left wondering, after picking their jaws up off of the floor, even before the dramatic finale between Argentina and France for the title of 2022 World Cup men’s champion in Qatar had even ended.

The GOAT battle between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé didn’t disappoint and (somehow) even exceeded expectations.

Argentina had one hand on the trophy leading 2-0 at the half, until Mbappé single-handedly willed his French side to tie it up. Messi scored his second of the game to retake the advantage until Mbappé completed the hat trick to knot it up 3-3 and require penalty kicks to decide soccer supremacy.

In the end, Argentina prevailed 4-2 in the shootout as Messi claimed the World Cup trophy that had eluded him during his legendary career.
