Iraklis tops AEK in Greek league

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Tosi Rodrigo scored in the 82nd minute to help visiting Iraklis Thessaloniki beat AEK 2-1 on Sunday and break the Athens club’s six-game winning streak in the Greek league.

Iraklis took a surprise early lead when De Adrante Emerson exploited a mistake by defender Silver Ramos in the eighth minute, before AEK levelled with a header by Nikos Lymberopoulos in the 28th.

AEK kept attacking throughout the game, but Iraklis’ sturdy defence held firm and Rodrigo scored the winner with a header off a free kick by Dimitris Mavrogennidis.

AEK still leads the league with 18 points, two more than Panathinaikos, which trounced Levadiakos 4-0 on Sunday. Olympiakos is in third with 15 points, after beating PAOK 2-1 Saturday.

Panathinaikos had an easy afternoon at Levadiakos, getting two goals from Dimitris Salpingidis and one each from Dimitris Papadopoulos and Vangelis Mantzios.

Panathinaikos hosts AEK in the next round.
