SINSHEIM, Germany — Hoffenheim says attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing ligaments in his right ankle.
The Bundesliga club says the 20-year-old Brazilian will miss around eight weeks before resuming training ahead of next season.
The midfielder was injured in Hoffenheim’s 0-0 draw at Freiburg on Sunday.
Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel says, "initially, we feared something worse."
Hoffenheim is ninth in the Bundesliga with three games remaining.
