MONTREAL — The Montreal Impact has suspended forward Peter Byers for breaching a team rule.
The soccer club made the announcement Tuesday but didn’t provide specific details about the incident that led to the suspension.
The club has not determined how long Byers will be sidelined.
“Peter has to assume the consequences of his actions,” technical director Nick De Santis said in a release. “He is a good person but it is not the first time he does this. As a professional club, it is important for us to clearly establish our principles and our philosophy.”
Earlier this season, Byers was sent to the club’s reserve team for similar reasons.
