MILAN, Italy _ Inter Milan’s 19-year-old forward Mario Balotelli has apologized to the club for an undisclosed rift and could return to the squad for the first time in six games.
In a statement posted on Inter’s website Thursday, Balotelli said he was “sorry for the situation created recently. I was the first person to suffer, because I adore football and I want to play. Now, I’ll wait silently so I can be used by my team again.”
Balotelli reportedly met with Inter coach Jose Mourinho before the statement was issued.
Inter will be missing several players due to suspension when it faces Bologna on Saturday. Balotelli, who has scored seven goals in 10 games this season, could be key as Inter tries to make the Champions League semifinals and defend its Serie A title.
