ROME — Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini says the club will soon come to an agreement with midfielder Daniele De Rossi about a new deal.

The 28-year-old De Rossi has spent his entire career at Roma after coming through the ranks at the club, but his current contract expires at the end of the season.

In an interview with Radio Mana Sport, Sabatini says De Rossi "will stay a Roma player. It’s more than a wish, he wants to renew and the club wants to keep him. I’m sure we’ll come to an agreement."

De Rossi has made more than 300 appearances for Roma since his debut in 2001. He has helped it win two Italian Cup titles and to the Serie A runners-up spot five times.

The Italy international also won the World Cup in 2006.
