Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says winger Adam Johnson will be sidelined for three months after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

The England winger was injured during training on Thursday and will miss the majority of the season.

Mancini says "this will be a very big problem because he is an important player … We do not have another player like Adam."

Johnson has scored six goals for City this season and has established himself as a regular member of Fabio Capello’s England squad.
