TURIN, Italy — David Trezeguet plans to leave Juventus at the end of the season, the French striker announced Thursday.
“Sooner or later there’s an end to everything. Nothing has changed regarding my relationship with the club and I never asked to leave, the contract was never a problem. It’s a decision that I made some time ago,” Trezeguet said, according to the ANSA news agency.
Trezeguet has fallen down the pecking order for Juventus strikers, behind Vincenzo Iaquinta, Amauri and captain Alessandro Del Piero at times.
The 31-year-old Trezeguet is in his 10th season with Juve, having scored 116 goals in 195 Serie A games, but only one goal last season.
Trezeguet wouldn’t commit when asked about where he might play in the future.
“I don’t know. It’s not the time to talk about that. We’re only two rounds into the season,” he said. “I would like to conclude my time with Juventus by winning something.”
