PRETORIA, South Africa — Manchester United scored three second-half goals Saturday to beat South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 in the final of the Vodacom Challenge pre-season tournament.
Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney both scored for United, which also got goals from newcomers Tom Cleverly and Fraizer Campbell.
Rooney created several chances in the first half before Giggs put the Red Devils ahead in the 40th minute by volleying a shot into the top of the net.
Rooney then latched onto a through ball from Danny Simpson and calmly slotted the ball through goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s legs to make it 2-0 in the 57th. The 18-year-old Cleverly added the third in the 62nd after a cross from Simpson, while Campbell — who was on loan at Hull last season — rounded out the scoring with an 86th-minute strike after he replaced Rooney.
United drew 1-1 with Chiefs in the opening match of their pre-season tour, and then defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0.
