MADRID, Spain — Real Madrid playmaker Kaka has undergone successful knee surgery and will miss three to four months.
The Spanish club said earlier Thursday that a routine medical performed on Kaka after the Brazil international returned from vacation revealed a problem with his left knee.
Kaka left the team’s camp in Los Angeles to undergo the operation on his meniscus at the AZ Monica Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium.
Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said "if we lose him for some time it’s no drama, we have other players, but he’s one of the best in the world."
The surgery came the same day that Electronic Arts announced that Kaka will be featured on the cover of its "FIFA Soccer 11" video game.
The 28-year-old will be the central figure of the game’s global advertising campaign, although he will be joined by other players depending on the market.
The game, which is developed in Burnaby, B.C., comes out Sept. 28 in North America.
