Leverkusen gets Can from rival Bayern Munich

LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Bayer Leverkusen has signed German under-21 international Emre Can from Bundesliga rival Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen says the 19-year-old midfielder has signed a deal through June 2017. Both sides agreed not to disclose the transfer fee.

Leverkusen general manager Wolfgang Holzhaeuser says “Can is one of the biggest German talents in midfield. We are convinced he can help us decisively in the coming years.”

Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller says Can is “extremely versatile . with huge potential.”

Can says “Leverkusen is among the leading clubs in the Bundesliga and playing in the Champions League. I want to contribute to making the coming years successful in all competitions.”

Can joined Bayern from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2009. He scored one goal in four Bundesliga appearances last season.
