Lionel Messi was always tipped to be a world-beater, especially as a teenager in the Barcelona youth system. However, now everyone can witness Messi when he was a star in the making.
Barcelona recently released match footage from the Catalan derby involving Barcelona “B”, the club’s reserve squad, against eternal rival Espanyol.
Messi scored and assisted in a 2-0 win in Sept. 2004 as a 17-year-old.
Approximately one month later, Messi made his debut with the Barcelona first team against–coincidentally enough–Espanyol.
Now, more than a decade later, Messi is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, and has won 26 different trophies with Barca.
