LIVERPOOL, England — Liverpool has sent Loris Karius on a two-year loan to Turkish club Besiktas after the goalkeeper made two mistakes in the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp says "we said goodbye yesterday, He is really looking forward to it. It is good for him."

The 25-year-old German has been replaced by Alisson, with Liverpool paying Roma up to 72.5 million euros ($85 million) for the Brazilian.

Klopp says Karius remains "a fantastic goalkeeper at a very good age."

Liverpool lost the Champions League final 3-1 to Madrid in May.
