Fernando Torres may return to the Liverpool team for the first time in a month against Blackburn on Saturday.
The Spain striker has been out of action because of a groin injury but is close to resuming full training and could play some role.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez says "it seems as though things are going well . . . He has to keep training with the fitness coach, but if he is feeling better maybe he can be involved in normal training sessions and afterwards we can decide."
Torres scored 10 goals in 10 Premier League matches this season but has not played since the 1-1 Champions League draw at Lyon on Nov. 4.
