LONDON — Former England defender Martin Kelly has been sold by Liverpool to Crystal Palace after falling down the list of full backs at Anfield.

Liverpool has signed Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid and agreed to the transfer of Alberto Moreno from Sevilla in the off-season, meaning Kelly’s chances would have been limited this campaign.

Kelly has signed a three-year deal with Palace, which is reported to have paid 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million).

The 24-year-old Kelly says on Thursday "now is the time at that age where I need to get back to playing week-in, week-out."

Kelly has played for England once, in 2012, and was a member of the European Championship squad that year.
