MANCHESTER, England — Mario Balotelli’s attempts to keep a low profile after his latest off-the-field misdemeanour have been thwarted after the Manchester City striker was asked to leave a shopping centre for refusing to pull down the hood of his top.

The controversial Italy international was told by security guards at the Trafford Center in Manchester that he would be ejected if he didn’t remove the hood.

Balotelli is reported in the British media to have shaken hands with staff before leaving with a friend.

Monday’s incident came days after Balotelli was fined a week’s wages by City for visiting a strip club in early hours of Friday, in breach of a club curfew.

Balotelli is reported in the British media to earn 120,000 pounds ($190,000) a week.

City manager Roberto Mancini said Wednesday that "every player should have good behaviour before the game."

Balotelli has generated numerous headlines for his off-the-field antics since joining City in 2010.
