MANCHESTER, England — Belgium midfielder Marouane Fellaini has left Manchester United to move to China to play for Shandong Luneng.

The 31-year-old Fellaini made 177 appearances for United after joining in 2013. He followed David Moyes from Everton to become the club’s first major signing of the post-Alex Ferguson era.

Fellaini, who last year signed a new and improved deal until 2020, was a key figure at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.

But he has featured only once in United’s seven English Premier League games since the club sacked the Portuguese and appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager in December.
