MLS Power Rankings: Bulls charge out of gate

Every Wednesday I will break down the balance of power in Major League Soccer with my weekly power rankings.

1. SEATTLE SOUNDERS [up from #2]

Overall record: 2-0-0 (6 points)

Streak: two wins

IS there a hotter player in the league right now than David Estrada?

2. SPORTING KANSAS CITY [up from #4]

Overall record: 3-0-0 (9 points)

Streak: three wins

Three wins, outscored opponents 6-1. Can’t ask for much more.

3. REAL SALT LAKE [down from #1]

Overall record: 2-0-1 (6 points)

Streak: one loss

A loss at home to Chivas — who saw that coming?

4. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS [up from #9]

Overall record: 2-1-0 (7 points)

Streak: one tie (unbeaten in three)

Unbeaten after three and top of the West. Wonder how long this will last?

5. SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES [up from #10]

Overall record: 2-0-1 (6 points)

Streak: one win

Chris Wondolowski wishes he could play at BMO Field every week.

6. LA GALAXY [unchanged]

Overall record: 1-0-1 (3 points)

Streak: one win

Champs had the week off to prepare for New England.

7. FC DALLAS [unchanged]

Overall record: 1-1-1 (4 points)

Streak: one loss (winless in two)

Even without three of their best players they still nearly took a point off Kansas City.

8. HOUSTON DYNAMO [down from #5]

Overall record: 2-0-1 (6 points)

Streak: one loss

Still in good shape after earning six points from two road games.

9. NEW YORK RED BULLS [up from #12]

Overall record: 1-0-2 (3 points)

Streak: one win

A trip to Denver (and a 4-1) was just what the Red Bulls needed.

10. COLORADO RAPIDS [down from #3)

Overall record: 2-0-1 (6 points)

Streak: one loss

Pretty lame effort and performance against New York at home.

11. CHICAGO FIRE [unchanged]

Overall record: 1-1-0 (4 points)

Streak: one win (unbeaten in two)

Goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi comes up big in win over Philly.

12. PORTLAND TIMBERS [down from #8]

Overall record: 1-1-1 (4 points)

Streak: one loss (winless in two)

One week they look like world beaters, the next they lose the New England.

13. COLUMBUS CREW [unchanged]

Overall record: 1-0-1 (3 points)

Streak: one win

Got a huge help hand from the refs in win over the Impact.

14. NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION [up from #18]

Overall record: 1-0-2 (3 points)

Streak: one win

Huge win over Portland after being blown out by KC. This team may have some character, yet.

15. CHIVAS USA [up from #19]

Overall record: 1-0-2 (3 points)

Streak: one win

Wins don’t get much bigger than the Goats’ victory in Salt Lake.

16. DC UNITED [down from #15]

Overall record: 0-1-2 (1 point)

Streak: one tie (winless in three)

After three games, need Dero to find his scoring touch again.

17. MONTREAL IMPACT [down from #16]

Overall record: 0-1-2 (1 point)

Streak: one loss (winless in three)

Two cruel calls went against them in Ohio. Such is the life of an expansion team.

18. TORONTO FC [down from #14]

Overall record: 0-0-2 (0 points)

Streak: two losses

Winter gets it wrong again with his tactics, and the defence continues to leak goals.

19. PHILADELPHIA UNION [down from #17]

Overall record: 0-0-3 (0 points)

Streak: three losses

Wonder if Peter Nowak is rethinking some of those off-season moves he made?
