MONCHENGLADBACH, Germany — Borussia Monchengladbach captain Juan Arango has signed a two-year contract extension that will tie him to the club until 2014.

The 31-year-old midfielder extended his deal on Friday, the day before Monchengladbach’s game against Schalke.

Arango has played every minute for Gladbach in a season that has taken the team to within three points of league leader Borussia Dortmund and one point adrift of Schalke.

Coach Lucien Favre says "Juan has a very precise left foot both with short passes and long balls," adding that "he can read the game very well."
